Canada has reached 37 million in April of this year (2018). This is an increase of 1 million people in just over 2 years, according to Statistics Canada. This is the shortest amount of time its ever taken Canada to achieve such a massive increase in population.

According to Statistics Canada, the majority of these 1 million new Canadians come from immigration.

Already in 2018, some 80 000 new immigrants have arrived in Canada.

The amount of new Canadians calculated from subtracting births from deaths, equals only 15 000 people. With an aging population, Canada has registered the highest mounts of deaths in its history over the same period.

These two challenges, low birth rate and an aging population, were not able to slow down the growth of Canada’s population. Demonstrating the strength and efficiency of Canada’s immigration system currently.
